2026 Chaffee Regional Housing Needs Assessment

Chaffee County, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, and Salida are partnering on a Regional Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) to determine the greatest housing needs and better understand challenges faced by residents in finding and keeping stable housing. This HNA will provide an update to the 2016 HNA update completed in 2022. The HNA is the foundation for community-specific Housing Action Plans (HAP) that will identify specific strategies to address housing affordability, stability, and future growth across the county. Together, these efforts will help local governments build on recent housing successes and better support residents and the regional workforce. Completing the Housing Needs Assessment will ensure Chaffee County local governments and housing organizations can continue to access state funding for investment in housing.
